KARACHI: Release of protesters ordered

KARACHI, Sept 25: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Ahmed Siddiqi has directed Gulshan Town police to release the persons arrested at Zia- ul- Haq Colony, Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town, for protesting against the removal of encroachments by the KDA on Friday night.

Rauf Siddiqi paid a surprise visit to the Gulshan Town Police Station, according to a statement issued here on Sunday .

He gave directive to police officials after receiving detailed information from police officials and the arrested persons.

The statement also said some residents of Zia-ul- Haq Colony had protested against the operation launched to demolish illegal constructions from the colony.

It said the area police intervened in the matter and arrested some of the residents. —APP
