MITHI: The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim hit out at Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday and asked him to clarify his position on a recent statement in which he had raised questions over the chief ministers in Sindh coming exclusively from interior of the province.

Dr Rahim, who himself had remained

chief minister of the province under Musharraf-led government, said that such a statement by a person who held the highest office of chief executive of the country was simply immature.

He said that chief ministers of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan too belonged to remote areas which were far away from capitals of their provinces. Above all, the prime minister himself was elected by people of Mianwali, which was a small town in the Punjab and not its capital, he said.

He advised the prime minister to respect mandate of the people living in rural areas and said “issuance of such statements that only aim to target the corrupt government of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh make no sense”.

Dr Rahim said that PPP rulers were trying to hide their corruption behind lame excuses like the one they routinely advanced about denial of funds under NFC award. The fact remained that PPP rulers had miserably failed to provide relief to tens of thousands of flood-affected people in several districts of the country, he said.
