KARACHI: The home department on Tuesday announced that there would be a ban on pillion riding across the province on October 8, when the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) would be observed.

A notification to this effect said that apart from pillion riding, there would be a ban on carrying/displaying of arms/firearms, lathis, hatchets and explosive material/crackers; raising of political/religious slogans and displaying of such posters; playing of/possessing audio/video of provocative speeches initiating sectarian hatred; assembly of five or more persons (except for Chehlum/tazia/majalis); and unauthorised processions, public gatherings or congregations.
