Campaign against kite flyers

LAHORE, Sept 24: Eighteen City District Government teams will arrest the people flying kites of prohibited sizes with prohibited thread or metal wire under a crackdown starting from Friday (Sept 30). The teams, comprising town municipal officers, police, civil defence volunteers, Lesco and social welfare officials will arrest the kiteflyers and hand them over to the area police after lodging of FIRs under the Dangerous Kite Flying Ordinance.

The offence is non-bailable and those arrested can be awarded three-month imprisonment or a fine of Rs15,000.

Five teams will be constituted for each of Ravi Town and Shalimar Town and three for each of Allama Iqbal Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, Data Ganj Bakhsh Town and Nishtar Town.

District Officer (environment) Tariq Zaman Khan and the PSO to DCO will constitute the teams and monitor the operations.
