ATTOCK, Sept 24: Security has been increased in Attock following the two bomb blasts in Lahore city last Thursday. District Police Officer (DPO) Capt (retired) Zafar Iqbal Awan said patrolling at shopping centres, shrines, seminaries, railway stations and other public places had been increased. He said people had also been asked to keep an eye on suspicious people and vehicles.

The DPO said special security arrangements had been ordered at mosques and Imambargahs for Friday prayers.

Besides, security at police stations, government offices and sensitive installations was also enhanced.

Besides routine patrolling, the number of plain-clothes policemen had been increased to keep a vigil on the movement of anti-state elements, he said.

All divisional superintendents of police and station house officers had been issued the necessary directives, while officials of all security and law enforcement agencies and emergency departments including special branch, fire brigade, Civil Defence and bomb disposal squad asked to be on alert, the DPO added.
