4 die in Sehwan stampede

DADU, Sept 23: Four people were run over and killed in a stampede at the shrine of Sufi saint Qalandar Lal Shahbaz on the first day of his annual Urs on Friday. The deceased were identified as Jannat Bibi, 50, (resident of Sahiwal); Ramzan, 25, (Larkana); Fareed (Obauro); and Allah Ditta, 35.

A large number of people fainted due to overcrowding at the front and back doors of the tomb.

The exhausted people were given medical aid at different camps set up by social organizations. Dr Shahzad said about 500 people were provided medical aid at the camp established by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Dr Nadeem said about 100 people were provided medical aid in one hour at the camp of the Sindh Auqaf department.
