MIANWALI: Mianwali police claimed to have solved a murder case within a week and provided relief to the people of Harnoli in Piplan tehsil of the district.

While giving details to Dawn, Mianwali District Police Officer (DPO) Hassan Asad Alvi said that last week, 21-year-old Muhammad Faisal Rajpoot of Harnoli went out in the afternoon on his motorcycle to get medicines for his mother, but did not return. This alarmed his family and they started searching for him and asked his friends, but failed to find a clue.

At 11pm that night, a team found a motorcycle on a roadside near Kandaywala Pul near Harnoli city and a body in the bushes nearby. A police team reached the spot and found marks of gunshots on the body.

The DPO further said that as soon as he was informed of the development, he promptly formed an investigation team headed by a superintendent of police.

After weeklong efforts, the team picked up a suspect, Alam Khan, who confessed during interrogation to murdering Faisal. He told police that he wanted to marry Faisal’s mother, but the deceased was opposed to it over which he shot him dead, the DPO claimed.
