KARACHI: At a time when the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is facing severe financial constraints, the PHF secretary Asif Bajwa has purchased a brand new Honda Civic worth over Rs 4m, sources told Dawn.

The PHF top hierarchy has been running from pillar to post to arrange funds for running the domestic circuit and the PHF secretariat.

It may be recalled that the Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa had assured to dole out Rs50m to the PHF when retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar called on him last month. It is also pertinent to mention that the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has doled out Rs20m to the PHF twice so far. It is on record that former Olympians have levelled allegations of misuse of funds by the incumbent PHF chief in the past that led to forensic audit of accounts by the auditors.
