KARACHI: Two officers of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) were killed and another was critically injured on Tuesday when a “personal dispute” inside the office at the Civic Centre degenerated into a deadly fight, police said.

An official at the New Town police said that all the three persons involved in the incident were officers of the KDA.

The deceased were identified as 54-year-old Mohammad Waseem Usmani and 53-year-old Waseem Raza. Both the victims were assistant directors at the KDA.

The 54-year-old wounded person, Mohammad Haneef, was associated with the KDA as a superintendent, the official added.

Police surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmad Abbasi said that the two victims were brought dead at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy.

“Mohammad Waseem Usmani sustained a bullet wound on the shoulder while Waseem Raza sustained two bullets on his chest,” he said.

“All the men were in the same room when the incident took place,” said Inspector Safdar Brohi, the SHO of the New Town police station.

On the basis of initial investigations, SSP East Sajid Amir Sadozai suspected that the incident took place because of some personal arguments.

He said the police were recording statements of the KDA officials who were present at the time of the incident in the office.
