LAHORE: An eight-event card, featuring three races for well-bred colts and fillies, awaits equine sport’s connoisseurs during the second Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

The Lahore Race Club (LRC) management has through a notification has instructed the race-goers, stake-holders and professionals to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the club protocols as safety measures against the coronavirus pandemic. The LRC appealed to them to extend full cooperation to the staff on duty to check observance.

The main event, the Moj-e-Bahar Plate, Class VI Division III and IV to be contested over 1,100 metres has eight runners. A quartet looks to be on chance — JF Thunder, Sparking, Madhuri Dixit and Marmaris.

All cherish the distance and are in form but the last named has a slight edge over the others on handicap figures. A close and lively contest is expected to be enjoyed by the fans.

The supporting event, the Moj-e-Bahar Plate Class VII Division I and II to be run over 1,100 metres has 11 runners. Gelding Believe Me, narrowly beaten by colt Sea Horse last time, should make amends this time. Legacy, Amazing Runner and Khadim are the choices to complete the frame.

There is yet another race, the Moj-e-Bahar Plate Class VII Division II to be contested over 1,100 metres, which may likely provide an interesting competition with three-year-old well-bred colts and fillies will be testing their strides’ worth in handsome prize and break their maidens duck.

The first race will be held at 1.00pm.
