Halal food market

Published

THE halal food products market worldwide is estimated to be worth over $3 trillion and continues to grow at a healthy rate.

I live in New Zealand which has a population of about five million. Only a little more than one per cent of the population is Muslim for whom halal food products are imported.

New Zealand imports halal gelatine and other halal ingredients from several countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea and even Inner Mongolia, but hardly any products from Pakistan.

In my opinion Pakistan can learn from Thailand which exports halal foods worth $275 million annually. One hopes our entrepreneurs in the country look into this venture. The embassy in New Zealand can play a major role in this regard to promote Pakistani halal products.
