KARACHI: Zebra crossing at FTC

Published September 23, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 22: A temporary zebra crossing will be provided near the Finance and Trade Centre to facilitate pedestrians in crossing the Sharea Faisal. EDO Transport Malik Zahirul Islam directed the concerned officials to start work on the zebra crossing from Thursday night and install signboards for prior information of drivers.

He said that traffic should be kept moving during the work, which should be carried out keeping in view road safety rules.

According to the Transport Department, an overhead bridge would be constructed at the FTC for pedestrians and work on it would be completed in three months.

The location for the overhead pedestrian bridge was selected after a survey conducted by the city government’s department of transport and the traffic police.

The zebra crossing is being provided temporarily. Traffic officials will remain present for the guidance of pedestrians.—APP
