ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and president of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan on Tuesday during a telephonic conversation expressed their concerns over “the federal government’s act of abandoning the people of Sindh” in the wake of natural disasters and vowed to make every effort to maintain unity among the opposition ranks.

According to an official handout issued by the PPP media centre, the two leaders discussed the prevailing political situation in the country and the role of progressive parties in the country.

Both the leaders vowed to cooperate with each other and go together on “political matters” and expressed their determination to keep the opposition parties united.

The two leaders also criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government for allegedly using the National Accountability Bureau as a tool to victimise its opponents and vowed to raise voice against such actions.

Mr Bhutto-Zardari was of the view that the federal government should have played a “positive role” to deal with the situation developed throughout the country after the recent rains and floods.
