FAISALABAD, Sept 21: Police entered two new sections in the FIR lodged against suspended SP Abdullah Khalid, Inspector Jamshed Iqbal Chishti and other policemen, and launched hunt for the accused here on Wednesday. Accused SP Abdullah Khalid, inspector Jamshed, and his two gunmen — Iqbal and Fareed — have been declared guilty of wilful breach of duty and keeping people in illegal confinement. It is learnt that a ‘wanted person’ escaped from police custody owing to their negligence.

The area police have sealed the FIR on the direction of senior police officers. The investigation of the case has not so far been entrusted to any of the police officers.

The accused nominated in the FIR have not furnished bail bonds for ensuring the investigators that they would remain available for questioning in the offence they had committed according to the one-man tribunal of District and Sessions Judge Abdul Waheed Khan.

Inspector Amir Mushtaq, the Sargodha Road police station SHO, confirmed that the new sections had been included in the FIR lodged against the SP and others on the basis of initial information secured by the police.

He admitted that no effort had been made for formal arrest of or further proceedings against the nominated accused, saying it was up to the investigation wing to take up the case file for interrogation after getting the FIR desealed with the approval of the senior policemen.

The case had been registered under sections 343 and 225-A of the PPC and 155 of the Police Order 2002.
