QUETTA: The Balochistan government has imposed a ban on all websites and social media pages being operated by government employees. It issued orders blocking all such sites and pages that were spreading misinformation and propaganda against the government.

According to a notification issued by the provincial government on Monday, Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani took serious notice of such pages and WhatsApp groups by government employees on social media that are being used for character assassination of government functionaries and for fanning ethnic rift among people.

All public servants or employees of the Balochistan government have been asked to block such pages and groups involved in propaganda activities.

The heads of public departments and other organisations that work under the provincial government have been told to ensure the implementation of the directives issued by the chief minister.

In case of non-compliance, strict disciplinary action will be taken by the province’s chief executive, the notification said while asking all departments’ heads to submit compliance reports to the chief minister within three days.
