PESHAWAR, Jan 19: The NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah on Friday directed that the expected implementation cost of the proposed reform package in the tribal areas should be worked out.
Presiding over a meeting of the task force on federally and provincially administered tribal areas at the governor’s house on Friday, he said each sector should be reviewed separately and its expenditure mentioned.
The meeting discussed the reform package for Fata, including extension of devolution of power plan, changes in the judicial system and reorganization of law enforcing agencies there.
The governor said that the expenditure should be kept at the minimum level and there should be a clear indication of the initial cost and the recurring expenditure. He expressed the government’s resolve to rid the tribal people of the prevailing taxation mechanism and termed it unjust and unjustified.
AUQAF MINISTER: The NWFP minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Qari Roohullah Madani on Friday said that strict action would be taken against those officials and contractors found involved in overcharging intending pilgrims.
