Eight ties decided on first day

LAHORE, Sept 20: Eight matches were decided on the opening day of the Sports Board Punjab Inter-district under-17 football championship at the D.P.S School, and Police grounds, Faisalabad on Tuesday. In all, 33 districts out of 34 are participating in the event. Only Pakpattan district could not field the team because its DSO did not release the funds.

Two goals each by Adnan Butt and Taimur helped Faisalabad rout Sheikhupura 4-0.

A solitary goal of the match scored by Mohammad Gohar steered Muzaffargarh to 1-0 win against Dera Ghazi Khan.

Rawalpindi also inflicted 1-0 defeat on Mandi Bahauddin with Sarfraz scoring the winner.

Lodhran and Bhakkar were held to a goalless draw.

A hat trick by Umair, which is also the first of the competition, guided Sargodha to a 3-0 win against Gujrat.

A goal by Imran enabled Vehari to beat Layyah 1-0.

In other matches, Rahimyar Khan outclassed Mianwali 2-0,

Bahawalpur earned a big 4-1 margin win against Gujranwala.

Sixteen more matches will be held on Wednesday.
