10 die as truck rams into wagon near Sibi

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Ten people, including a woman, were killed and 15 others injured when a truck collided head-on with a passenger bus going to Quetta from Jacobabad on Sunday.

The injured include women and children.

According to police, the wagon carrying around 30 passengers was near the Methri area in Sibi district on the National Highway when it was hit by the Mazda truck loaded with apples.

The accident left eight passengers dead on the spot and 17 others injured.

Soon after receiving information about the accident, Levies Force personnel rushed to the area along with rescue workers who shifted the bodies and the injured to Sibi District Hospital where an emergency was declared.

“Two injured people succumbed to their injuries in the hospital during treatment,” Sibi Deputy Commissioner Yasar Bazai said, adding that seriously injured people were referred to the Trauma Centre of Quetta Civil Hospital.

Levies officials said that the speeding truck smashed into the passenger wagon and the bodies of the passengers and the injured people were taken out by cutting wreckage of the wagon.

Those died in the accident were identified as wagon driver Ata Muhammad, Shakoor Khan, Muhammad Ishaq, Shahzain, Zameer Hussain, Taj Mohammad, Toti Khan, Mohammad Ashraf and Saddam Hussain. A woman victim remained unidentified till the filing of this report late in the night.
