RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Sunday launched an anti-dengue drive after three days of rainfall to eliminate dengue larvae to avoid the spread of the virus in the district.

“We have sped up the drive in the district to prevent the spread of the deadly mosquito-borne disease,” said Deputy Commissioner retired Capt Anwarul Haq.

He said that all departments had been engaged in the campaign and teams were visiting houses in their respective areas to clear places of stagnant water.

He said that the health authority teams would inspect water tanks, tyre shops and domestic pots and would report to the respective supervisors if they found dengue larva anywhere.

He said that the teams had been provided with larvicides which would be thrown on stagnant water across the district to eliminate the larvae.

“We expect fewer dengue cases in the district during the current year compared to previous years due to early launch of the campaign,” he said.
