KARACHI: The weekly Gymkhana race meetings resumes on Sunday (Sept 6) following a five months break due to Covid-19 pandemic, the Karachi Race Club (KRC) announced on Tuesday.

The KRC was compelled to halt its races in the aftermath of the countrywide lockdown announced by the federal government on March 14.

According to sources, the closure has incurred a heavy loss to the institution approximately up to the tune of Rs8 million.

Fortunately, sources added that all the staff and horses were fine and no one was infected.

Meanwhile. the resumption of races will coincide with the Defence Day of Pakistan and Defence Day Cup will be the main attraction.

“The races will be held under government SOP’s and wearing of face mask will be mandatory for all staff and racegoers,” the sources added.

The race card and handicap will be taken out on Sept 3.
