Euro-V fuel

Published August 13, 2020

IT is a moment of great pride for Pakistani consumers to know that Pakistan is finally upgrading to Euro-V fuel very soon. This step has been taken by the largest oil marketing company in Pakistan — the state-owned Pakistan State Oil (PSO). There is no doubt that this upgradation will be in the best interest of vehicle owners.

Euro-V fuel also results in less emissions and is environment friendly. It also adds to engine life. However, I have noted that for the last four days HOBC 97 is rarely available at any petrol pump.

I personally visited petrol pumps run by the PSO and another company in Gujrat consecutively for four days to check its availability. The staff kept on using delaying tactics and asking customers to come later.

I own a Japanese car and only use HOBC 97 petrol. Although we are upgrading to a better fuel soon, still there is a shortage of current HOBC 97 supply. It seems that oil marketing companies are trying to get rid of all current petrol supplies in advance of their next upgraded fuel shipment.

This shows a serious fault in the supply chain of oil marketing companies. Do all current customers have to wait until Euro-V is available at petrol pumps?
