ISLAMABAD: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is interrogating the man who opened fire in front of the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Officials of the capital police said a case was registered against the man at the Secretariat police station under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) along with 337H of Pakistan Penal Code and the arms ordinance.

Later, the investigation of the case was given to the CTD along with custody of the arrested man.

Investigation officer of the case Inspector Anar told Dawn that the suspect was produced in the court of a magistrate seeking his physical remand. In response, he was given into the CTD custody on a four-day physical remand.

Sources in the police said the investigators have sought assistance from different departments.

Local authorities in the native town of the suspect are also being approached to collect his details.

Details of his engagements and meeting with others during the last couple of days are also being collected. Besides, his family members, relatives and friends are under surveillance, they added. The man started firing a sub-machine gun in front of the SC building and chanted Khatm-i-Nabuwat Zindabad.
