DERA GHAZI KHAN: A suspected patient of acute flaccid paralysis was confirmed a polio patient when his test reports were received after his death, local health authorities claimed on Tuesday.
Health Chief Executive Officer Dr Khalil Sikhani told Dawn that six-month-old Yousaf, a resident of Makwal Klawn in Taunsa Sharif tehsil, was suffering from multiple diseases, including paralysis. His samples were taken for tests to confirm the cause of the paralysis.
However, Yousaf died before the test reports were received, which later confirmed the patient had contracted polio virus.
Dr Sikhani claimed that this was the third polio case.
