ISLAMABAD: Once again, a slight increase was seen in new confirmed Covid-19 cases in the capital on Friday.

Officials said 27 positive cases were reported on Friday compared to 24 a day earlier.

They said 11 of the cases were reported from the Airport Security Force (ASF) camp at Islamabad International Airport, four from F-11, two from F-7, one each from Tarnol, G-11, Tarlai Kalan, G-7, I-8, F-6, Golra, H-13, G-10 and I-1.

The tally of confirmed cases reached 15,014, out of whom 12,494 patients have recovered and 165 died.

Till July 30, as many as 3,466 people in the age group of 30-39 year had contracted the virus followed by 2,740 in the age group of 20-29, 2,441 aged between 40 and 49, 1,904 aged 50 and 59, 1378 from the age group of 0-9, 1,109 from the age group of 60-69, 1,000 from the age group of 10-19, 436 from the age group of 70-79 and 154 from the age group of 80 and above.

The age groups of 359 patients could not be ascertained.

Rawalpindi

Total 12 patients tested positive in the Rawalpindi district on Friday, 17 patients were discharged from hospitals while one person died of the virus.

The 85-year-old resident of Dhoke Chiraghdin was admitted to Social Security Hospital on July 30 where he died.

The number of confirmed patients in the district increased to 6,528 while 275 people have died of the disease and 5971 patients recovered.

However, 120 suspected patients are waiting for their results from laboratories.

At present, 282 confirmed patients are under treatment, including 138 patients in four government hospitals. Moreover, 144 patients are isolated in their homes.

The local administrations also keep 6,820 people on quarantine who had been close contacts of the confirmed patients.

Meanwhile, 45 shops were sealed after they were found opened in violation of the lockdown.

Teams from the district administration imposed Rs87,000 fines on the violators.

Six vehicles were impounded and the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) imposed Rs37,500 fines on the transporters for violating SOPs. Besides, eight vehicle owners were issued warnings.

Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq said 21 patients are in the intensive care and high dependency units of four hospitals in Rawalpindi. Two are on ventilator, 12 on oxygen and seven are stable in isolation rooms, he said.

He said the lockdown was implemented and no gathering was allowed in public places during Eid days.

Attock

Three people tested positive during the last 24 hours in the district of Attock, raising the tally to 575.

District focal person for Covid-19 Dr Asif Arbab Niazi said one of the patients belonged to Hazro and the others to Pindigheb, including a doctor.

The number of active patients in the district increased to 65 and suspected cases to 4,250. He said results of 440 suspected Covid-19 patients were awaited.

Four patients are admitted to health centres while the remaining are home isolated. So far, 490 patients have recovered, he added. —Additional reporting by Amjad Iqbal
