SUKKUR: Tehreek-i-Nifaz-i-Fiqh-i-Jaffria Sindh president Allama Syed Asghar Ali Naqvi has said that a bill ‘Tahaffuz-i-Bunyad Islam’ passed by the Punjab Assembly two days ago should have been tabled after seeking advice of religious scholars.

The allama said at a press conference at an Imambargah in Jacobabad on Monday that a conspiracy was being hatched to disrupt law and order in the country by tabling controversial laws.

He said that their leader Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah had announced holding protests throughout the country on July 31 against the disputed bill. There should be no ban on mourning majalis and processions in Muharramul Haram and on 21st of Ramazan, he said, adding that they would cooperate with government by following SOPs and the government should likewise extend them cooperation.

He called for speedy action against terrorism to improve law and order conditions in the country. Terrorists had no religion, they were only terrorists and the scourge of terrorism be eliminated from the country as early as possible, he said.

He condemned police action on Masjid-i-Ali in Jacobabad on 21st Ramazan and demanded action against the police officials responsible for it.
