Scouring operation to begin from 19th

SUKKUR, Sept 17: The Sindh government in the interest of safety of the Sukkur Barrage has decided to conduct the scouring operation of the barrage for removing silt from its left and right pockets. The scorning operation starting from Sept 19 and will continue to Sept 23.

Announcing this, the Chief Engineer of the Sukkur Barrage has said that during the operation, off-taking canals viz Khairpur Feeder West and Khairpur Feeder East will remain closed from Sept 19 to 21 and North Western (Khirthar) Canal, Dadu Canal and Rice Canal will remain closed from Sept 21 to 23.

Similarly, the supply of water to Rohri and Nara canals will be reduced partially and arrangements would be made to provide water in canals by giving preference to tail-end areas.

Farmers, who were getting water from canals of the Sukkur Barrage, have been advised to arrange water for their land accordingly.
