Railways dominate

LAHORE, Sept 16: Railways by winning four bouts out of a total of 12 dominated the first day of the 52nd national wrestling championships on Friday. Railways’ Manga beat Muhammad Khurram (Wapda) on points in 60kg category. Tariq Mehmood got walk-over against Asghar Ali (Police) in the same class.

In 84kg category, Muhammad Shahid defeated Muhammad Habib (Sindh).

In 96 kgs, Hamid Khan also came out winner against Rustam of Sindh.

Two wrestlers from Wapda, Army and Punjab also won their bouts.

Muhammad Khurshid (Wapda) managed to beat Ghulam Haider (Army) on points in 60kg class.

Muhammad Umar beat Abdul Jabbar in the 96kg class. From Army Farooq and Zahir Khan remained winners in 60kg and 84kg classes.

From Punjab Suleman Butt (66kg) and Umar Lone (84kg) were the winners. One grappler each from Police and NWFP also won a bout each.

Results:

60kg: Manga bt Muhammad Khurram on points; Farooq bt Dilber Hussain winning two periods on points; Amonial bt Zubair Khan by fall.

66kg: Zahir Khan bt Shahbaz; Muhammad Shahid bt Muhammad Habib; Umar Lone bt Muhammad Usman.

84kg: Zahir Khan bt Shahbaz; Muhammad Shahid bt Muhammad Habib; Umar Lone (Punjab) bt Muhammad Usman . 96kg:Abdul Sattar bt Kashif ; Muhammad Umar bt Abdul Jabbar; Hamid Khan bt Rustam.
