RAHIM YAR KHAN: A case has finally been registered after 15 days regarding the accident between Shalimar Express and a goods train on July 4 at Jetha Bhutta railway station near Khanpur.

A first information report was registered at Khanpur Railway police station on the complaint of Shalimar Express in-charge guard Maqsood Ahmed under sections 427 of PPC and 101 of Railway Act on July 19. It stated that the accident was a result of the negligence and irresponsibility of Railways employees.

The complainant stated that on July 4 he took the charge of Lahore-bound Shalimar Express from Rohri to Khanewal.

The train crossed Jetha Bhutta railway station at 4:18pm after the assistant station master had cleared its track, while the Karachi-bound goods parcel train was coming on the other track.

However, due toa mistake while changing the signal, the Shalimar Express was switched to the track the goods train was on that resulted in a collision.

The engine of Shalimar Express was damaged, while two bogies of the goods train derailed.
