SARGODHA, Sept 16: Three children of a family were strangled here late Thursday night. Reports said Rukhsana had two children — Awais (5) and Komal (4) — from her first husband, Zahid. Last year, she got divorce from him and married Naseer.

The family lived in a rented house near the Urban Area police station. On Thursday, Rukhsana gave birth to a son in a local hospital. Naseer had called his niece, Abida (17), for the look after of Awais and Komal.

On Friday morning, when Naseer visited the house, he found the three children dead. They had been strangled.

Police are investigating.

PROTEST: Bus owners and drivers staged a demonstration in front of the DPO’s office on Friday in protest against the collection of protection money at the general bus stand.

One of the protesters, Shafi, said 20 buses plying on the Sargodha-Kandiwal-and-Sabowal route were allotted base No 28 to pick and drop the passengers. He alleged that Ilyas of Nawankot was receiving Rs50 per bus as protection money under the patronage of one Soodi Pathan.

The protesters also met DPO Mohammad Naeem and told him that the adda in-charge with the help of the Lorry Adda police post moharrar was collecting the money.
