KARACHI: While several parts of the city received light rain on Thursday evening, the Met department has forecast light to moderate widespread rain in Sindh today (Friday).

The districts likely to receive rainfall include Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Jamshoro.

“The monsoon currents are penetrating in southeast Sindh due to a low pressure area that has developed over the Rann of Kutch and its adjoining areas. Under its influence dust/thunderstorm-rain with isolated moderate to heavy falls are likely to occur,” explained Met department spokesperson Sardar Sarfaraz.

It’s the same place where a low pressure area recently built up and caused rains in Karachi for three days, he added.

However, this time the weather system is likely to persist for a shorter duration and move towards Oman soon.
