LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Saturday paid a surprise visit to Orange Line Metro Train station at Dera Gujran and reviewed the preparations for launch of the train service.

He inspected the latest facilities being provided in the metro train, automatic equipment and different sections of the project.

Mr Buzdar said construction work of the metro train had almost been completed and the government was waiting for the favourable conditions. He said the train service would soon be started after the removal of hurdles caused by the Covid-19.

While directing the authorities concerned to make the train functional, the CM said the project was a part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.

Pays surprise visit to Dera Gujran station

The Punjab Mass Transit Authority managing director gave a detailed briefing to the CM about the current status of the project.

APP ADDS: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, during his surprise visit to Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) station, said that by making the train functional, the government would be ending the tradition of closure of previous governments’ projects.

He said the train was being run for the welfare of the people and their convenience as the government was determined to provide the best transport facilities to the Lahorites.

The CM said it had been decided that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent passengers from Covid-19 would be strictly followed in the Orange Line train.

The Mass Transit Authority MD apprised the CM of the progress of the initiatives taken for the OLMT. He said that electrical, mechanical and civil works of the project had been completed.

He said that services of officials and experts of Chinese companies, including Norinco, GMG and Daewoo had been hired.
