KARACHI: Imtiaz’s bail extended

Published September 16, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 15: A division bench of High Court of Sindh, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Azizullah M Memon, on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a petition by former Sindh minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh till Oct 9 while extending interim bail allowed to him earlier.

When the petition came up for hearing, Fareed Dayo informed the bench that leading counsel Raja Qureshi arrived Karachi late on Wednesday night from abroad and, therefore, could not attend the proceedings. He requested for an adjournment which was allowed by the court.

The accused was seeking bail in a case of kidnapping for ransom.

Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh moved Sindh High Court for quashment of three corruption cases against him, pending in anti-corruption court in Karachi.

The applications were taken up before SHC’s single bench, comprising Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery, for preliminary hearing.

However, the court adjourned the hearing till Sept 21.—PPI
