Published September 16, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 15: Over a hundred special children were enthralled at a magic show at a local club on Thursday. Children from Darul Sakun, Ida Rieu School and College for the Deaf and Blind, Madawa, Aghosh, Hope and Faith, Darul Khushnood, Asra, and Al-Rozan participated in the function organized by noted artist and social worker Jimmy Engineer.

A magician Mohammad Idrees kept the young audience spell bound for over an hour with his tricks and the special children liked his tricks and appreciated his performance by long bouts of applause.

Special children from the Ida Rieu School, led by Mohammad Saleem and under the guidance of their music teacher Mohammad Riaz, enthralled their colleagues for over a couple of hours by singing national and folk songs. Tableaus were also presented by the students of Al-Rozan, Scinosa, Madawa and Asra.

A large number of special children joined in singing and also danced at the conclusion of the programme after which they were served with a sumptuous lunch.

Speaking on the occasion, social worker Jimmy Engineer said that he had been organizing such functions under his fun and food programme for special children for over three years.

Mr Engineer said that one of the reasons for his organizing this kind of programmes was that in this way the issues relating to the handicapped people are highlighted and hopefully these would be solved also. Earlier, Iqbal Umer and Dr Zahid Ansari of the Karachi Gymkhana also spoke.
