HYDERABAD: The Awami Workers Party (AWP) has expressed grave concern over increasing incidents of enforced disappearances in Sindh, stating that the situation indicates lawlessness.

In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, AWP president Comrade Bukhshal Thallu and general secretary comrade Javed Rajpar said it appeared as if peaceful atmosphere was being purposely vitiated in Sindh.

They said the cases of enforced disappearance had increased and claimed that Aqib Chandio and Hafeez Pirzado were picked up again and their whereabouts remained unknown.

Such action against political and non-political activists was unconstitutional, they said, adding that the provincial and federal governments were responsible for it.

They said that if the federal institutions were picking up people, the Sindh government must talk to them as maintaining law and order in the province was its responsibility.
