LAHORE: Police claimed on Wednesday to have registered a case against a woman for allegedly attacking and abusing a warden over car parking in Liberty Market.

A video shared widely on social media showed a warden asking a woman not to park her vehicle on the road as it would create congestion. The unidentified woman could be seen violating traffic rules, abusing, hitting the warden on his face and hurling threats of dire consequences.

However, the warden could be seen calling women police constables to arrest the woman for violating traffic rules, hitting, abusing and hurling threats of dire consequences at him. He lodged a complaint at the Gulberg police station and a case under sections 186, 290, 291 and 353 of the PPC was registered.

As the video went viral on social media, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) retired Capt Syed Hammad Abid ordered raids for arresting the woman. A police team raided her house, but could not find her there. Her vehicle was seized.

A police press release stated the incident had taken place two days ago when the woman had wrongly parked her car on the main road in front of a fast food shop near the Liberty Market exit, causing a traffic jam and congestion. Warden Furqan asked her to park the car on a side, which is when all hell broke loose.

She made a phone call and asked the warden to speak to her father. Upon his refusal, the woman allegedly slapped and hit him repeatedly, and fled from the scene.

The CTO took notice of the incident and issued instructions for the arrest of the woman.

He said the woman had slapped the warden and scratched his face with her nails, while he showed patience and forbearance. He said wardens were meant to protect the lives and property of citizens and such behaviour was intolerable.
