KTT tourney revived

KARACHI, Sept 14: The Karachi table tennis championship which was revived after a decade and has attracted approximately 200 players including women got underway at the Islamia Club on Tuesday night. The event is being contested in men and women team events, men singles and doubles, women singles and doubles, and boys and girls singles belonging to local schools.

The men team event which got underway on the opening day has reached the quarterfinal stage. The teams which have qualified for last eight includes Islamia Club ‘A’ and ‘B’, Creek Club, Young Star ‘A’, Sharfabad Club’A’ and ‘B’, Hasababad Club and Sunset Club ‘A’.

Following are the results:

Men team event (first round): Aga Khan Gymkhana ‘A’ bt Sunset Club ‘B’ 3-1; Aga Khan Gymkhana ‘B’ bt USS Club 3-1; Amroha Club ‘A’ bt PSO ‘A’ 3-2; Srarfabad Club ‘A’ bt Karachi Grammar Club 3-0; PSO ‘B’ bt Hino Pak Club 3-1, Young Star bt Allied Engineering Club ‘B’ 3-0.

(Pre-quarterfinals): Islamia Club ‘B’ bt Salawat Club 3-0; Creek Club bt PSO ‘B’ 3-0; Young Star ‘A’ bt Amroha Club ‘A’ 3-1; Sharfabad Club ‘B’ bt Aga Khan Gymkhana ‘B’ 3-0; Hasababad Club bt Aga Khan Gymkhana ‘A’ 3-0; Sharfabad Club ‘A’ bt Allied Engineering Club 3-0; Sunset Club ‘A’ bt Young Star ‘B’ 3-1, Islamia Club ‘A’ bt Karachi Gymkhana 3-0.
