No MMA’s office to be set up in AJK

Published September 15, 2005

MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 14: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Jammu and Kashmir (JUJK) has rejected a proposal for setting up of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal branch in Azad Kashmir. “Establishment of any political party of Pakistan in Azad Kashmir will affect Kashmir freedom movement,” the JUJK chief, Sahibzada Attiqur Rehman, told a press conference on Wednesday.

He said that the JUJK would not join the MMA if it was set up in Azad Kashmir.

Mr Rehman noted that the JUJK was Kashmiris’ representative party and it had played an important role in the freedom movement.

He said that the JUJK was an autonomous organization and was not a subsidiary of any political party in Pakistan.—Online
