KARACHI: The Majlis-i-Wahdat-i-Muslimeen has slammed K-Electric for undeclared and unannounced loadshedding and alleged overbilling from consumers.

Addressing a press conference, Karachi leaders of the MWM lashed out at the KE because of “its monopoly on electric power supply in Karachi”.

Ali Hussain Naqvi and other leaders of the MWM urged the National Accountability Bureau to probe the revenue of K-Electric. They claimed that KE was earning trillions of rupees from consumers.

They alleged that the KE deceived consumers on the pretext of shortfall of 550 megawatts of electricity.

The MWM leaders said that the ministry concerned held K-Electric responsible for power crisis in Karachi. “But KE exempts itself on the pretext of shortage of furnace oil”, they said.

Mr Naqvi and other MWM leaders said people had nowhere to go to lodge their complaints.

They claimed KE did not follow any rule and worked above the law while taking the government authorities and legal framework for granted.

However, MWM leaders warned the federal and provincial governments to take notice of “K-Electric’s anti-people, unjust, undeclared loadshedding and overbilling”.

They warned that if the matters did not improve, people would have to take to streets to register their protest.

Terrorist attack on PSX condemned

The MWM leaders also demanded action against those corrupt people and profiteers who remained involved in artificial shortage of sugar and petrol.

Allama Mubashir Hassan Naqvi, Mir Taqi Zafar and Zain Rizvi also accompanied Allama Baqir Zaidi during the press conference.

Moreover, the MWM leaders also condemned the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Stock Exchange saying it was tantamount to attacking the entire economy of the country.

They said that the terror attack put a big question mark on the performance of law enforcement and security agencies.

However, they also noted timely effective response from the security officials failed anti-Pakistan elements.

They expressed sympathy and solidarity with the victims and heirs of the martyrs.

The MWM leaders prayed for recovery of the injured of the terror attack.

They suggested that the government carry out counterterrorism operation like it did in the past against terrorists.
