KARAK: Civil society activists here on Sunday took to the streets and blocked a road in Karak city, demanding exemplary punishment for all those involved in making videos of women during childbirth at a private clinic.

The protesters marched to Saddam Chowk in the city and blocked the road to traffic. They said that all those involved in making, selling and circulating the videos should be arrested and given exemplary punishment.

They asked the authorities concerned to immediately seal the private clinic of Dr Ijaz and conduct a transparent inquiry into the matter. The set a three-day deadline for the arrest of all those involved in the heinous act and resolved that they would not sit silent until the district administration took action.

CHILDREN INJURED: Three children of a family were injured when roof of a room in the house of one Rasool Khan caved in in Dabli Lawagher area of Karak.

Police sources said on Sunday that the children trapped under the debris were rescued by personnel of Rescue 1122 and shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Karak. In another incident, two brothers were injured by a rival group in Umer Din Kallay area of Karak.

Police sources said that Irshadullah and his brother Rizwanullah were injured when members of the rival group opened fire on them.

Relatives of the injured have registered an FIR in Takht-i-Nusrati police station against Amjad and Aqal Badshah.

TAX REJECTED: Anjuman Tajiran, Karak, have rejected the professional tax on traders and asked the tehsil municipal administration to stop its collection forthwith.

In this regard, a meeting of the traders was held here on Sunday with their district president Gul Razi Khan in the chair.

The meeting discussed the losses of traders due to spread of Covid-19 and demanded of the government to compensate the low-income traders. The meeting also expressed concern over collection of professional tax by the Karak TMA.
