Robber killed, 2 held during encounter

RAWALPINDI, Sept 13: The police, during an encounter, killed one highway robber and captured two of his accomplices on Lehtrar Road on Tuesday. District Police Officer Rawalpindi Saud Aziz said a gang of robbers was looting passengers of several vehicles on Lehtrar Road when a police patrolling party spotted them and called for reinforcement. The police reinforcement, led by DSP Sabir Nadeem and SHO Kahuta, reached the scene and challenged the culprits.

During the encounter, one of the robbers, who was later identified as Qamar Javaid, was killed and two of his accomplices, Ali Akbar and Yasir, were arrested. —Staff Reporter
