ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: Pakistan and the United Kingdom will soon sign an extradition treaty, official sources told Dawn. The sources said that both sides have agreed in principle to sign the treaty.

“Some requirements are to be fulfilled before the treaty is signed, but it would not take much time”, the sources said.

They said the signing of the accord will be mutually beneficial and help both the countries fight terrorism with bigger strength. Answering a question they said the decision to sign an extradition treaty is not linked to the July 7 bombings adding that the discussions on it were under way much before the incident took place.

They pointed out that the suicide bombers involved in the attack had been identified as born British nationals.
