KARACHI: A man was gunned down by suspected robbers for putting up resistance to a robbery bid in North Nazimabad late on Thursday night, said police.

They added that armed robbers tried to snatch cash and other valuables from Ahmed Zakir, 38, in Block-D, North Nazimabad. When he put up resistance, the alleged robbers opened fire on him and fled.

The man sustained critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Warehouse fire

Nine vehicles in two warehouses located in Orangi Town, Sector 4, were damaged when a fire broke out there on Friday, said police and fire brigade officials.

The blaze erupted in the two warehouses containing oil and plastic at around 8.10am.

Four fire engines rushed to the spot and managed to control the fire at about 11am.

Two trucks, three loading vans, one rickshaw and three motorcycles parked there were damaged in the fire.
