Peshawar Greens lift trophy

PESHAWAR, Sept 12: Peshawar Greens clinched the Inter-district swimming championship organized by NWFP Sports Board at Adil swimming pool on Monday. Only Mardan turned up while the rest of the districts failed even to form their teams for the event, said coach Nouman Ahmed who is organizing secretary.

He said the event featured 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle team event, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, and 50m freestyle in which 12 swimmers from Peshawar Greens, 14 from Whites and 10 from Mardan vied for top honours.

Upcoming Adnan Haider and Waleed Khan of Peshawar were declared joint best swimmers. Peshawar Greens grabbed the overall trophy, followed by Peshawar Whites and Mardan.

RESULTS:

100m freestyle: Waleed, Yousaf, Manzoor Taj.

200m freestyle: Adnan Haider, Zamar Qazi, Zahid Khan).

100m breaststroke: Adnan Haider, Khan Taj, Waleed.

100m backstroke: Waleed, Zamaar Qazi, Zahid.

100m butterfly: Waleed, Zamaar Qazi, Usama.

200m freestyle (team event): Waleed, Zammar Qazi, Usama Qazi.

50m butterfly: Yousuf, Adnan Haider, Usama Qazi.

50m backstroke: Zamaar Qazi, Zahid, Khan Taj.

50m breaststroke: Khan Taj, Yousuf, Zahid.

50m freestyle: Adnan Haider, Haroon Khan, Taimur.—APP
