Body of missing man found floating in canal

SUKKUR: The dead body of a 36-year-old cattle trader who had mysteriously gone missing in Patni area near Rohri two days ago was found in Nara Canal at Abejani Pul locality on Monday.

Police had the body taken out after some passers-by informed them about it and shifted it to Rohri taluka hospital for legal formalities. It was later handed over to heirs of the deceased.

Police suspected Allah Yar Shar had committed suicide by jumping into the canal after they found his motorcycle and national identity card near the canal following his disappearance. But his relatives believed he had been kidnapped and killed.

Police claim arresting bandit after encounter

Sukkur police claimed to have arrested a bandit after an encounter in Pano Akil on Monday and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession.

Police officials said that a police party on patrol of Khalid Bagh area near Pano Akil spotted a gang of armed criminals who opened fire on them.

The police party returned fire and succeeded to arrest the dacoit after he was injured, they said.
