KARACHI, Sept 11: The MNAs of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, Abdul Sattar Afghani and Mohammad Laeeq Khan, have expressed concerned over the situation prevailing in the city from rains, and criticized the performance of concerned institutions in the given situation. In a statement, they said that only one day of rain had disfigured the city condition, which was ample proof of the failure of the civic institution. They said that no one was paying attention to clean gutters and roads where rain water had stagnated.

They said that a cleanliness drive was launched in the city on the eve of elections, but no attention was paid to provide relief to people from any post rain situation.

They warned that if immediate attention was not paid to remove garbage dumps, which was creating stench every where, there was a grave possibility that an epidemic could break out in the city.

Meanwhile, JI Karachi Chief Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui has called upon the provincial government and the city administration to take effective steps for rehabilitation of people affected by the rains in katchi abadis.

He has also appealed to philanthropists to cooperate with the Al-Khidmat Welfare Society in this regard.
