SAHIWAL: Two parliamentarians and a private physician consultant tested positive for Covid-19 in the division during the past 24 hours.

PTI MNA Rai Muhammad Murtaza and PML-N MPA Mian Naveed were found affected with coronavirus. Mr Murtaza announced his test results on his official twitter account, while Mr Naveed shared his test report on his social media accounts.

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Zeeshan Javed along with the local administration distributed free face masks among passersby, shopkeepers and traders at Saddar Bazaar.

Dr Azhar Naqvi, the health chief executive officer, said 15 patients of coronavirus were being treated at the Haji Abdul Qayyum Hospital out of whom nine were positive and six suspected cases in critical condition.

Dr Farrukh, the focal person for coronavirus, said two other suspected cases had died, while their test reports were still awaited.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Thirteen new Covid-19 cases were reported in the district on Friday, including the driver of the Pirmahal assistant commissioner who had earlier tested positive for the virus herself.

The man was admitted to Pirmahal THQ Hospital’s isolation ward. Meanwhile, Gojra THQ Hospital’s pharmacist and radiology department technician also tested positive for Covid-19. They both were already under treatment at the THQ hospital.

Gojra Deputy District Health Officer Dr Naseem Sarwar Sheikh said that 10 more people had tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday and a few of them had been quarantined at their homes, while the remaining admitted to Gojra THQ Hospital’s isolation ward.

A retired schoolteacher, who had quarantined himself in his house after testing positive for coronavirus a few days ago, died on Friday at his home in Gulshan Colony at Gojra.

SHEIKHUPURA: Two residents of Khanpur village being treated at the DHQ hospital for Covid-19 for a few days died here on Friday. While former PML MPA Faizan Khalid tested positive for the virus and was quarantined at his home.

So far, 30 people have died of coronavirus in the district, while the public rapidly continues to violate the standard operating procedures. Medical experts say there was a need to create awareness among the public.

SIALKOT: Senior medical specialist and president of the Pakistan Medical Association Sialkot chapter, Dr Munawar Javaid Mian, 65, died of coronavirus on Friday.

In Daska, three people infected with the virus died. One of them was under treatment at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital for a week, while the other two died in their homes.

OKARA: Seven people, including a doctor and laboratory in-charge, tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday, raising the number of total cases in the district to 60.

According to Haveli Lakha Rural Health Centre (RHC) Medical Superintendent Dr Shabbir Ahmad Chishti, the RHC deputy medical superintendent and lab in-charge had tested positive and were isolated in the hospital.

Focal person Khurshid Jillani said 26 people had recovered from the virus so far.

Meanwhile, the test report of a suspected coronavirus patient, who died three days ago, came out negative.

Senior physician Dr Rana Umer Draz Khan had died three days ago at the emergency ward of DHQ hospital after he was admitted with respiratory problems.

The hospital authorities had refused to hand over the body to his family and he was laid to rest by a burial team under the coronavirus SOPs.
