ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a suspect facing charges of terrorism financing following dismissal of his pre-arrest bail plea by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the petition filed by suspect Haji Khairullah. He was seeking bail since the FIA was probing him in connection with terrorism financing.

Syed Mohammad Tayyab, deputy attorney general, representing the FIA, argued that the suspect was an Afghan national and illegally running Hundi hawala business.

He asserted that three other people accused of terrorism financing were funding the petitioner as well. He said the suspect was also involved in money laundering and had smuggled millions of rupees abroad.

After hearing the arguments, the court dismissed the petition. The FIA officials then arrested the suspect for further investigation.
