Is Yasir Hussain trying to prove that he is a thinking actor? Well, these days he seems to be expressing his opinion way more than he used to. His latest comment doing the rounds is about the craze of Turkish dramas in the country. Taking to Instagram on May 17, the actor argued that PTV should employ our own actors and technicians because “when your brothers and sisters will be out of job and Turkish artists will be given those jobs, maybe then you’ll understand what I’m seeing.” Not sure if what he’s seeing is being seen by those whose duty it is to see what everyone else can’t see... But for now viewers seem to be too engrossed in Ertugrul and Haleema to care.

Atiqa’s Comparison

Our showbiz industry should have more seniors such as Atiqa Odho because very few of them encourage their younger colleagues the way she does. The artist, last week, was all praise for Bilal Abbas and Yumna Zaidi for their performance in the drama series Pyar Ke Sadqey. So much so that she compared the two with Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in Humsafar. Hmmm… now that’s taking the praise a bit too far. It couldn’t be a backhanded compliment, could it?

The Economic Side

The coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing lockdown has, as the cliché goes, changed the entire world, including the film industries all across the globe. Bollywood star Taapsee Pannu, during a recent chat with an Indian magazine, made a valid point about the economic side to the stoppage of work. She said that since nowadays actors are not working in movies, they’re not getting paid. Taapsee P added that she’s also ready for salary cuts, if and when filming resumes. Harrowing times! We hope that this will only happen to bad actors, though — of whom there’s no dearth.

Kathak It Is

Now that’s how you make isolation time useful. Bhumi Padnekar is a very good actress, we all know that. So it’s difficult for someone who is a quality artist to confine herself to the four walls of a house. To break the monotony, she has begun to learn Kathak dance from her mum, Sumitra Padnekar. Needless to say, the mother is a trained dancer. Good on you, Bhumi P. If it ain’t delivering the dialogue, it’s the pirouetting that will do the trick for you. Keep going!

Back to the Future

To be honest, we don’t know how exactly to react to what Justin Bieber said during his and wife Hailey’s Facebook Watch series on May 16. Responding to a query about what he would change in his life if he were given a chance to go back in the past, the pop star commented: “I don’t regret anything because I think it makes you who you are and you learn from things. If I could go back and not have to face some of the bad hurt that I went through, I probably would’ve saved myself for marriage.” Say what? If that had happened, you might not have even gotten married, JB.

Threat to Buble

The world is getting weirder by the day. Check this out: Grammy winner Michael Buble and his beautiful Argentinian wife Luisana Lopilato were having a wonderful live Instagram session. At one point, the singer seemed to elbow and then pull his better half in by the arm and then, realising he’d done it a little too aggressively, took her into an embrace. This did not go down well with many social media followers, especially those living in Argentina, who thought he was being abusive towards her. As a result, some of them even hurled death threats at him. Luisana L was quick to come to her hubby’s rescue: “I want you all to know that I have no doubts about who my husband is and that I would chose him again a thousand times over!” Awww, true love, indeed. It looks like she still believes in him.
