KARACHI: As life is slowly returning to normal in the city, the Karachi races are also likely to resume after Eid-ul-Fitr with adequate safety measures, Dawn has learnt.
It is pertinent to mention that the last races were held on March 5 and the suspension took place on March 14 in view of government announcement of lockdown.
As of now, 12 racing weeks have been affected due to closure costing an approximate loss of Rs 4m.
“The Karachi Race Club has decided to strictly implement the government SOP’s making use of masks and gloves mandatory besides use of hand sanitiser,” a source told Dawn.
Meanwhile, there’s a jubiliation in the racing fraternity and the KRC staffers on proposed resumption of races after Eid.
Sources added the horses are expected to go through practice in the starting gate at least twice before the competition.
