KARACHI, Sept 7: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested four accused in five rape cases reported to the Civil Hospital Karachi in less than a month. However, the police have failed to arrest alleged rapist Kamran, who has fled to Balochistan. He has been charged with sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl and subjecting her to brutal torture in a shantytown in North Nazimabad. The minor girl, admitted to the CHK on Aug 30, is in a serious condition as both her arms and a leg are fractured. Having received information that the suspected rapist was hiding in the vicinity of the shrine of Shah Noorani, the police sent a party to Balochistan for his arrest.

An eight-year-old girl was sexually abused allegedly by her father on Aug 7 in their house in Baldia Town. The girl’s cries attracted the attention of her mother, who raised alarm. As a result, neighbours gathered and caught hold of the man. The girl was taken to the Civil Hospital for medical examination, where it was established that she had been sexually assaulted. The police arrested the father of the girl and registered a case (FIR 224/05) under section 18 of Zina Hudood Ordinance.

A man, identified as Ashfaq, sexually assaulted his four-year-old niece in Moach Goth on Aug 25.

The girl was brought to the Civil Hospital where the doctors examined her and suggested that the girl had been abused. Mauripur police arrested Ashfaq and booked him in FIR 191/05 under section 10(3) of the ZHO.

In a similar incident, Atique overpowered his 11-year-old niece and sexually assaulted her in her house in Malir City on Aug 30. The girl was taken to the hospital for medical examination. After rape was established, the police arrested Atique in the FIR 119/05.

Bilal intruded the house of a three-year-old girl in Hijrat Colony on Aug 31, when her parents were out to work as domestic servants.

He assaulted the minor girl, whose screams attracted neighbours. The suspect was caught by the area people. The police arrested Bilal in the FIR 94/05 under section 18 of the ZHO.
